Jim Furyk collected his first PGA Tour victory at the Las Vegas Invitational in 1995. Jim began the 1996 season in victorious fashion by winning the United Airlines Hawaiian Open. In 1997, Jim’s $1,619,480 set the PGA Tour record for the most money won without a victory. Jim had 13 top-10 finishes and the year was culminated with his selection to the Ryder Cup team, which he represented well – beating Nick Faldo twice in singles competition.

Tiger Woods sure could talk an excellent game in the press meeting with regards to being a lot more respectful to the game of golf, but his activities spoke very much louder than his words while he missed the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Woods could have produced so much good will by doing this tournament. Arnie would likely have succesfully done everything which he might have that can help show Tiger in the best light, yet on the other hand Tiger makes a decision to dismiss the legends from the sport and do his own thing. All the best in the Masters, Mr Woods. Congratulations towards Ernie Els, and also I hope you do extremely well in Augusta.
Interesting take on his absence at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. You are right, this is a tournament he has won 6 times and Arnold Palmer would have embraced him and made sure he was treated well.
