It is such a beautiful sight when you launch that perfect Tee shot. You know the one, straight down the fairway
with lots of loft and carry. I always appreciate a good tee shot, especially when it’s mine.
Tell the truth, when you walk out onto the first tee, what are you thinking? I know that most Golfers including Professionals are thinking “Let me hit this Drive Long and Straight and in the fairway”.
What you do on the first tee will more than likely dictate how the rest of your round will play out.
Hit a good drive and your confidence is up and you are ready to take on the golf course and all of its challenges. Hit it poorly and you will be wondering what to expect next.
If you are like most amateur golfers, you have been searching for the answer to Launching Drives consistently down the fairway with pin-point accuracy. There is probably nothing more frustrating for the average golfer than inconsistency on tee.
Like most golfers, you’ve more than likely tried everything to improve your game. You have spent thousands on new clubs, taken numerous lessons, spent hours and hours practicing at the driving range or bought different golf balls. The more you try the more frustrated you become when none of this seems to make any difference.
With all the talk about driving the golf ball, the ability to drive the ball consistently boils down to some basic techniques.
Your must start with a proper grip. This is our only contention to the golf club. If your grip is too strong or too weak, your ability to make solid contact and hit the golf ball squarely on the sweet spot of the Driver is greatly hindered.
A balanced stance is an absolute must. If your weight is not properly distributed, there is no way you will be able to control your swing through impact with the golf ball. A good stance should distribute your weight equally between your feet and allow you to remain balanced even when someone gives you a soft push from front to back.
The rhythm of your swing is the defining factor. Your swing must be a fluid work of art. Rushing your swing will only cause your swing plane to be inconsistent and that will lead to miss hitting the ball. Sometimes you will hit a fade or a slice and other times you will hit a draw or hook. This will be determined by how your body reacted to the rushed swing.
The only pure swing that I believe I have ever seen was Ben Hogan’s. He was a master at the proper setup, backswing and follow through. There have been and will continue to be many great golfers and everyone will have a different swing.
If you think about it, we are all built a little differently, so why would our swings be exactly the same?
The bottom line is a golf swing should flow from start to finish. You should be able to maintain your balance throughout the swing.
If you develop a swing that allows you to remain balanced and hit the ball squarely, then you have found the perfect swing for you.
