Hardpan Lie

Having to play a shot off a hardpan lie is one of those shots that makes you cringe.  This is one of those shots we all dread.  There’s no telling what your results will be.

This type of lie may seem like a wrist injury waiting to happen, but if you focus on a few tips, you can play a decent shot without hurting yourself or your equipment.

Try these free golf tips the next time you are face with a hardpan lie.

1. Controlled Swing – When faced with this shot you need to take less backswing. You want to take about a three-quarter swing. You will be able to maintain your balance and control your swing.

2. Hit Down on the Ball – Play this shot just like you would an iron shot from the fairway. You want to trap and compress the ball between the ground and the clubface. When you try to pick the ball cleanly off the ground, and you are more likely catch it thin.

3. Don’t Worry About Your Club – The ground may seem like it’s concrete, but you’re only going to scratch the surface. Your golf clubs are made out of steel, they can take it.

Remember, take your time, don’t panic. Just let the shot happen and don’t try and force too much out of the shot.
