Golf Swing, Are You Making This Deadly Mistake in Your Golf Swing?

Golf Swing alignmentThe average weekend golf is very consistent with their golf swing.

The thing is they are consistent with the same mistakes in their golf swing, which leads to poor play and frustration on the golf course.

Reality is the average golfer ignores or is unaware of the single most important aspect of the golf swing.

Plainly stated, this is the setup or positioning before the swing.

It doesn’t matter how good your golf swing is or whether you have the proper golf swing technique.  If you are not paying attention to your set up your golf swing will suffer.

The best golfers are aware of how important the setup is.  The exact opposite is true with the average golfer struggling with consistency in their golf swing.  When you take the time to setup correctly for a shot, chances are high that you are going to hit a good shot.

So important is your setup that even if you swing poorly in a good setup position, you are bound to at least hit a reasonable shot.

A proper setup will help you with posture and balance. This will help you with control throughout your swing.

The correct setup comes with training, exercise and conditioning of the muscles you use in your golf swing.  A golfer who struggles probably does not do golf-specific exercises that would improve their swing.  This will result in their inability to differentiate between a good setup position and a bad one, simply because they will probably feel uncomfortable in both.

What is truly amazing is all it takes to improve your golf swing is a simple exercise routine that can even be done in your home or office.

  1. Yes very true the set up is most important. Just the positioning of the golf ball too far back or too far forward in your stance can have a major effect on how you hit the golf ball.

The like to keep the ball position consistent for most of my iron shots and adjust the width of the stance accordingly depending on which iron I am hitting. In the other words a slightly narrower stance with the shorter irons than the longer irons. With the driver of course you want the ball position placed a lot closer to the front or lead leg.
