Golf Training Aid – Mental Preparation is the Key to Playing Well Under Pressure

Big Break Disney WorldMental Preparation is the Key to Playing Well Under Pressure.  I’ve had a little bit of free time over the last few days during the holidays and had a chance to watch a little bit of the Big Break at Disney World.

I was truly amazed by the lack of mental focus that the players in this competition displayed.

I was watching one of the competitions where the players were taken to Disney World early one morning. Their challenge was to hit a flop shot over a wall and into a net on the other side. They had three opportunities to score points.

The first two shots were worth a point each and the third shot would be worth two points. All they had to do was land their golf shot in the net to gain a point.

As I was watching this unfold I listened to the other players talking about their thoughts during the competition. It seemed to me that they were more focused on what the other player was going to do than on what they needed to do.

I would have to assume that being on this show and competing, that they were all good golfers. So the biggest difference is going to be their ability to control their mind.

If you play the game of golf for any length of time, you know that golf is 80% mental and 20% physical. Once you’ve developed a decent golf swing, and whether you execute it or not is all based on your thought process.

We develop muscle memory in our golf swing through practice, but very few of us take the time to develop mental memory.

In order to be a good golfer under pressure you need to have a very strong mental game. So why is it that we spend so many hours on the driving range and on the practice greens, but very little time practicing the mental side of golf?

When I was playing competitively, I found that I had my best rounds when I was in my ‘mental zone’. Nothing around me was important, only how I was playing mattered. My scores were lower and I was usually in the thick of it.

It was when I started paying attention to how the other golfers in my group were playing, that my game suffered. Developing a strong mental game will improve your scores and your ability to compete on a regular basis.

If you would like to improve your game and play the best golf of your life, I suggest that you take time this off-season to work on your mental game. By spending as little as 15 to 30 minutes a day working on your visualization skills your game will improve dramatically.

I recommend that you pick up the Renegade Mindset Program and improve your Mental Preparation is the Key to Playing Well Under Pressure. Your golf game will improve, you’ll lower your handicap and you will be better prepared when it counts the most.

Remember, Mental Preparation is the Key to Playing Well Under Pressure.
