I have never had cable or satellite TV in the house because I didn’t want my kids to be couch potatoes.
I let them watch some TV, but not very much. I prefer it if they read or do something athletic. Since they never knew anything different, they never gave me too much trouble about our family’s TV policy.
They all like to read and play sports after school. Now that they are getting older, it is starting to become a problem though. When they go to their friends’ houses and see all of the channels they have, they can’t believe it, and they come home and ask me if we can get them.
They are all good kids, and do well in school, so I have been thinking of relaxing the rules. I went to http://www.tvbydirect.com/ to check out some of the rates, and they aren’t too bad.
I am going to talk to my husband and see if he is on board with the move. That should buy me some extra affection from the kids for a while!
