How To Keep Golf Clubs In Good Condition

Most golfing enthusiasts are aware of the importance of a good set of equipment. Comfortable attire and golf bag pull carts make the day much more enjoyable, and help ease the mind. The most important piece of equipment, however, is a nice set of golf clubs. Obviously, you cannot play the sport without clubs, and it is therefore essential to take care of them so that they can adequately do their job. Knowing how to keep golf clubs in good condition will allow them to last for years and rounds to come.

When you head out onto the links, never forget to bring a wet towel along for the round. Your clubs will get dirty, and that grime must be cleaned off. It will work its way into the grooves and create inaccurate strikes on the golf ball. A moist towel will quickly wipe the soiled club clean, enabling true hits all day. If you forget to bring along the towel and the club gets dirty, the club head can be soaked at night to loosen the filth and allow for easier cleaning. In a pinch, a golf tee can be used to lift the dirt.

Even if you are careful to wipe the clubs with a wet towel, it is still a good idea to scrub the faces occasionally with a brass brush. Any harsher metals will gouge the club and lead to inconsistent shots due to improper contact with the ball. Before taking a brush to the club, the head may be soaked so that the brush can more thoroughly do its job.

Utilize head covers on all of your clubs. They will be tossed around a bit in the bag, and the heads will come into contact. The head covers will provide the necessary cushion to prevent dinging and scratching. Do not be foolish and hit the golf ball off of a tree root or a rock, either. This will only damage your club and possibly your wrist. Replace grips every year or two to maintain a comfortable handle on the clubs.

In order to keep golf clubs in good condition, simply take pride in them and keep them clean. Do not allow them to strike each other directly, and do not allow the entire shaft to get wet. By taking care of your golf clubs, they will provide many years and many enjoyable rounds to you.
